Campobello Island, New Brunswick

This Victorian home is located in the historic village of Welshpool, New Brunswick and boasts a spectacular view that looks out over beautiful Friars Bay.

The house was built in 1904 by the Goff family, one of the first families to live on Campobello Island.  Goff family members still live next door.   In 2007 Dave and Lydia Giordano purchased the house from the Lombardellis who owned the house for over 20 years.  They named the house “Campodelli” and they enjoyed it as their vacation home for over 20 years.  The Giordanos painted and refurbished the house in the summers and renamed the property The Friar’s Bay Retreat.

You are invited to relax in the solitude and peacefulness of this tastefully decorated home. Enjoy watching sea life, bald eagles and sweeping tides from the front deck above Friar’s Bay. The home's bright View of Friars Bayand sunny living room is the perfect place to catch up on your reading or take a short nap. Three of the bedrooms have water views of The Bay. The upstairs bathroom is European style with a claw foot tub, a little marble sink and a bird’s eye view of The Bay, the fog rolling in, the tides rolling out and more.  The “outdoor” shower is always a favorite in our Guest Book reviews.

Huge maple trees adorn the large front yard with a wonderful, old fashioned swing.  The back yard opens to a breath taking expanse of heart stopping views of sunsets that shroud Friars Bay. Centrally located and flavored with a touch of the past, this lovely home is a perfect location for enjoying all of the Island activities.  Click here for our pictures and visit to learn more about dining, fishing, and the historical Roosevelt Museum and Park that is co-operated by Canada and the United States.

Finally, if you want to stay busy you might never run out of things to do.  Walk to Campobello Library and Museum; take the Deer Island Ferry to see the "Old Sow" Whirlpool or take the path from the house to the beach and walk to the historic Roosevelt Cottage; hike the many trails in the two parks on the Island; embark on a whale watch from a nearby guide boat; play nine holes of golf at the Herring Cove golf course; enjoy the beach and picnic at Herring Cove beach or Upper Duck pond; kayak in the awe inspiring bays that surround Campobello Island; climb rock cliffs and trails that look out over the beautiful Atlantic Ocean; visit 2 lighthouses within 4 miles of the house; enjoy some of the world’s best ice cream; cross the bridge into Lubec, Maine and travel the coastline to discover some of the earliest townships in the United States.
